Welcome to the website of the V Global Forum on Fighting Corruption and
Safeguarding Integrity
Greetings from South Africa
 |
South Africa will host the Global Forum V on Fighting Corruption
and Safeguarding Integrity, to be held from 2-5 April 2007 in Johannesburg,
South Africa, under the theme 'Fulfilling our commitments: effective action
against corruption'.
Global Forum V is being organized by the Government of the Republic of South
Africa in cooperation with the African Organizing Committee and the
International Organizing Committee. Once again invited delegates will gather to
strengthen and deepen the fight against corruption.
As the first African hosts of this important global gathering, South Africa sees
the Global Forum V as a great opportunity for reflections on corruption and its
links to global poverty, how it impacts negatively on the capacity and
integrity of states. Importantly, the conference will focus on strengthening
regional and global anti-corruption institutions.
|
We trust that the Global Forum will provide an opportunity for key resolutions
on implementing existing regional and international anti-corruption protocols,
and emphasise the need for better partnerships between private and public
institutions in the fight against corruption.
Global Forum V will showcase Africa's anti-corruption experiences and good
practices, and so further enhance the discourse on this important topic. The
fight against corruption is a key element of the African initiatives to
eradicate poverty and to place African countries squarely on the path of
sustainable growth and development. We look forward to a fruitful exchange of
views on corruption, so that we can best detect, prevent and combat the
scourge.
